The Copyblogger sages
Present wisdom for the ages
On building landing pages
With content that engages.
If you’re doing any kind of search engine marketing for your business, you know that getting customers to click is just half the battle. You need a landing page that’s going to grab their attention and encourage them to take the next step, whether it’s buying a product, filling out a form, or downloading your digital catalog.
Lauren Mancke and Steven Lowe, Copyblogger’s own poets laureate, have put together this infographic of rhyming advice to help you build the perfect landing page. A few key (non-rhyming) takeaways:
- A landing page should have a clear purpose with an obvious call to action. When people come to your page looking for something specific, make sure they can find it.
- You need to optimize for people as well as the search engines. If people are leaving as soon as they land on your page, all you’re doing is wasting clicks.
- Don’t take a “set it and forget it” approach to your landing page. Keep an eye on your metrics, and use them to tweak, test, and fine-tune.
