How sales and marketing automation works

Step 1: Start building an automated campaign.

When you set out to automate your tasks, you don’t have to start from scratch! Step 2: Choose the “When” action that starts the automation.

Each automated campaign begins with a “when” action. This action is the trigger that kicks off all the tasks in your workflow without you having to lift a finger.

An example of a “when” action could be when a prospect submits a form. Once the form is submitted, the necessary next steps will launch automatically.

Step 3: Choose the “Then” action(s) you want to happen next.

“Then” actions are what happen automatically after your “when” actions have been completed.

For example, when a new lead submits a form (“when” action), the automation can automatically launch a “then” action of your choosing, such as a welcome email or an invite to book a consultation.

Step 4: Define a stopping point if necessary.

Your automation can go on as long as you’d like with as many “when” and “then” actions as you need. But make sure to program a stopping point so your automation knows when to end.

In the case of automating your lead follow-up, a natural end point would be when the lead makes a purchase and turns into a customer!
